Reminder: Scholarships for Service-Learning Summer Institute

DON'T MISS THIS GREAT OPPORTUNITY! 

We are pleased to announce that a private funder has designated support for a limited number of partial scholarships of $500 each, for K-12 public school educators, to attend CWI's Summer WEST Institute on Service-Learning. CWI's Summer WEST Institute will be held in Los Angeles the week of July 30th through August 3rd, 2012. Don't miss this opportunity to join with a remarkable group of educators from across North America and beyond.

ELIGIBILITY: Educators or administrators currently working in a K-12 public U.S. school system.

These scholarships will be awarded on a first come basis and are designated specifically for public K-12 educators and administrators. They require online registration, with the balance of tuition ($789) being paid by Friday, June 8th. The Institute is focused on integrating service-learning, sustainability, and place based education within the curriculum. INSTITUTE THEME: Place as the Context, Service-Learning as the Strategy, Sustainable Communities as the Goal.
OUR GOALS: To Help Teachers, Schools, and programs Deepen Student Connections to Learning, Service, and their Community


WHO SHOULD ATTEND: K-16 teachers, community based educators, administrators, and program trainers and leaders. CWI Institutes are appropriate for beginner to veteran practitioners. 

As an Institute Participant you will...
• Identify academic connections between service and essential knowledge.
• Find practical ways to encourage student voice in the learning process.
• Develop a deeper understanding of the role and practice of reflection
• Learn strategies to develop authentic community partnerships
• Reinvigorate your practice and commitment to education.
• Find practical ways to engage students in compelling community based work.
• Become part of our network of passionate educators.

GRADUATE CREDIT: The Institute is available for an optional and affordable 3 graduate credits. ($550)

TUITION/PROGRAM FEES: The regular tuition/program fee is $1,289, per participant, for these 5 day Institutes. This fee covers tuition, lunches, and all materials. 

CERTIFICATES: All participants will receive certificates for 45 hours of professional development.  Graduate credit is additional but very reasonable ($550 for 3 credits).
