Join generationOn in Chicago for Great Youth Events at the National Conference on Volunteering

Hi All,

Each year, Points of Light hosts the National Conference on Volunteering and Service. This Conference, which will be held in Chicago in June 2012, is the leading gathering of its kind, bringing together more than 5,000 service leaders to learn and cultivate new ideas for service, discuss the challenges we all face and work together to create solutions through the power of people.

This year, GenerationOn, the global youth service movement igniting the power of all kids to make their mark on the world, invites youth ages 13-18 to join generationOn for several terrific events.

1.generationOn Youth Summit
Sunday, June 17, 1-4pm
FREE, registration required

The generationOn Youth Summit will gather 250 young people for an afternoon of civic dialogue and service-learning including a panel discussion with notable youth leaders, leadership skill building activities and a service project to benefit the local Chicago community!

2.Youth Workshops
Monday and Tuesday, June 18-19, 9am-4:30pm
Fee: $250, Limited Scholarships Available

During seven sequential workshops over two days, youth hear from stars in the service field and learn to:
   • Plan a Unique Service Project
   • Share Your Story and Learn to Public Speak Like a Pro
   • Raise Big Bucks for Your Service Work

3.Innovation for Change Poster Contest
Submissions accepted through June 14, 2012

Contest is open to individual students and groups of students in all 50 states who are in grades 4-12 (during the 2011-2012 academic year). Interested youth should create a poster that serves as a visual representation of their:
   • community service activity or project, and
   • insights, innovations, and impact that completing this project
     had on you and your community.
Attendance at conference is not required. Prizes will be awarded for top submissions.
