AJCP Special Issue on Community-based Arts Initiatives: Call for Paper Proposals

[Announcement from SCRA-L]

Hello SCRA Colleagues,
I am writing to remind everyone of the call for paper proposals for a special issue of American Journal of Community Psychology on “Community-based Arts Initiatives: Advancing Theory, Research, and Action.”  Community-based arts initiatives are increasingly recognized as a means of promoting personal growth, citizen participation, cultural awareness, and community development in countries throughout the world.  These types of arts initiatives encompass a wide array of activities that include theatre, movement, visual arts, music, and other forms of creative expression.

Catherine Stein and I are pleased to be guest editors for the special issue.  We welcome proposals for papers that focus on conceptual, empirical, action-research, action-oriented, or experiential elements of community-based arts initiatives.  We encourage contributions from people engaged in community-based arts from a variety of disciplines.

The deadline for paper proposals is May 15, 2013

Please feel free to contact Cathy (cstein@bgsu.edu) or me (david.faigin@va.gov) with any questions you may have about proposals for the special issue.  We also ask for your help in sharing the attached call for proposals with interested colleagues who may not subscribe to the SCRA list serve.

Thank you very much,

David
