Service-learning and Jane Goodall Institute Web Chats - Beginning April 4

Dear Colleagues in Service Learning,

This April, Disneynature will release its latest True-Life Adventure, Chimpanzee.  If you see Chimpanzee during the movie's opening week (April 20-26, 2012), Disneynature will make a donation to the Jane Goodall Institute through the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund to protect chimpanzees today and tomorrow.

In the weeks leading up to the film's release, we wanted to give our members and friends an opportunity to connect with experts in chimpanzee research, conservation and education. Over the next several weeks, you'll be able to do just that. 

                  

These Web chats will provide a unique opportunity for you and your students to participate in interactive discussions about:

• What it was like behind the scenes for JGI's Bill Wallauer, one of the film's principal photographers;
• What life is like for Institute staffers working every day to help orphaned chimpanzees at JGI's Tchimpounga Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Center in the Republic of Congo;
• What young people can do to help preserve and protect endangered species, including chimpanzees; and
• How educators can bring conservation into the classroom to protect chimpanzee habitat and the habitat right outside their window.

All of these Web chats will be really great opportunities for your students to learn more about work being done on the ground to protect and conserve chimpanzees. The education (April 4, 4 p.m. ET) and youth leadership (April 24, 3 p.m. ET) Web chats in particular will highlight service learning projects they can do at your institutions to help protect chimpanzees and as well as your own local wildlife.
