Wilderness Service-Learning Course Announcement

[Announcement from he-sl listserv]

Hello S-L colleagues,

The University of Idaho’s Service-Learning Center is continuing the Wilderness Service-Learning Field Course this summer (9 July – 1 August 2012). We collaborate with the Conservation Social Sciences Department, the Selway-Bitterroot Frank Church Foundation and the US Forest Service to teach this intensive three-week field course in Idaho’s designated Wilderness Areas*. Please help us find interested students! There is no “out of state” tuition for summer courses at University of Idaho. All students pay in-state fees.

We are looking for students to learn and serve in the heart of the rugged, wild northern Rockies; earn academic credit, participate in field lectures and campfire discussions, work alongside the protected-area managers, and gain on-the-ground experience in protected-area management. Detailed syllabus, fee information, and application instructions can be found on the official website.

Sincerely,
Jim

*With the sole exception of the rough, gravel Magruder Corridor road, the Selway-Bitterroot, Gospel Hump and Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness Areas constitute the largest intact piece of wildland in the United States outside of Alaska, roughly 4.6 million acres.
