Facilitating Complex Conversations

Participating in complex conversations allows young people to develop critical thinking and leadership skills. In this 6-hour, interactive training, you will experience two simulations from our annual National Youth Leadership Training, learn about NYLT’s impact from a panel of previous participants, strengthen your ability to facilitate conversations with young people about taking action, and connect with other youth development professionals.

By the end of this training, participants will be able to…
  • Facilitate meaningful discussion with young people about power and privilege. 
  • Explain how and why to participate in the National Youth Leadership Training
  • Describe how NYLT’s activities influence young people to make change within themselves and in their communities.
  • Connect with other youth development professionals in Minnesota. 



Instructions: Enter the TIES Conference Center through the north side on Larpenteur Avenue. The Larpenteur Room is on the north side of the second floor. Free parking is in the TIES parking lot, to the west of the TIES building on the south side of Larpenteur Avenue.
Cost is free. Coffee will be served. NOTE: Please bring your own sack lunch!
If you are able to attend, you will need to fill out a short, pre-session survey in order to register. It should take about 5 minutes to complete.
