William and Mary Active Citizens Conference

Registration Closes February 10


On February 20 we’ll convene at The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia for a day of engaging the challenges and opportunities of active citizenship. Each year the conference brings together students from across campuses and speakers with a variety of experiences and expertise for a high energy day of making connections and exploring avenues of community driven change.

Our keynote speaker is Ruth Jones, CEO of the Foodbank of Southeastern VA and the Eastern Shore and former executive director of YWCA of South Hampton Roads.

Below are some of the 24 sessions we’ll host throughout the day:
  • Serving the Nation: Working in and with the U.S. Government
  • The Art of Social Change
  • What If Our Service Was Relational and Not Transactional?
  • Learning through Doing: Activities for Engaging with Social Justice
  • #ThinkBeforeYouPost: An Exploration of Ethical Social Media and Voluntourism
  • Students Reaching Students: How UVote Improves Campus Voter Registration
  • What If All Members Could Become Active Citizens?
  • Tech as a Tool: Actual Access for the Developing World
  • What If I Could Volunteer as a Full Time Job?
  • Collaborating to Create Healthy Beginnings for Pregnant Inmates
