Shape the assessment of civic learning on the national level

[Announcement from he-sl listserv]

The Massachusetts Department of Higher Education is developing two exciting new civic rubrics which will be considered by AAC&U for inclusion in its suite of assessment tools.

The rubric development process will begin for coming Civic Values rubric in March.  If you would like to apply to be a member of the Civic Values rubric development team, please see this page https://civiclearningrubric.wordpress.com/civic-values-rubric/ by February 21, 2016.

The draft of recently created Civic Knowledge rubric is now complete and will be ready for testing before the end of February.  If you are interested in testing the Civic Knowledge rubric, please visit this page:https://civiclearningrubric.wordpress.com/civic-knowledge-rubric/.

Both Civic Knowledge and Civic Values are components of the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education's definition of Civic Learning, which is being established as an "expected outcome" for undergraduates in Massachusetts public higher education.  For the Policy on Civic Learning passed by the Board and guiding this process, see http://www.mass.edu/bhe/lib/documents/AAC/AAC14-48.pdf.
