Public Engagement Colloquium Series






Dear Colleague,
The Office of Public Engagement invites you to attend the Public Engagement Colloquium, a new series that will take place during fall and spring semester to promote sharing of best practices in public engagement among members of the Urbana-Champaign campus community and external partners. Presenters are invited based on demonstration of exceptional success in developing and delivering public engagement programming that creates new knowledge, contributes to solving critical societal issues, furthers the teaching and research mission of the campus, and strengthens our ties with external partners. Presenter: Anne Sautman, Director of Education, Krannert Art Museum
Location: Illini Union, Illini Room A

KAM-WAM (Krannert Art Museum - Week at the Museum)
Classes of local elementary school students have the unique opportunity to attend school at Krannert Art Museum for an entire week. The interdisciplinary, arts-focused curriculum is developed in partnership between KAM, the schoolteachers, and teacher collaborators from the Center for Education in Small Urban Communities, which is part of the College of Education.

Presenter: Sharlene Denos, Postdoctoral Research Associate, Center for Physics of Living Cells
Location: Illini Union, Illini Room A

iRISE AVID: Engineering the Future through University/Middle School Partnerships
This program aims to bring hands-on science and engineering lessons to underrepresented middle school students and their teachers in Illinois. iRISE is centered around a graduate course which trains science and engineering PhD students in educational outreach.

Presenter: Flavia Andrade, Assistant Professor, Kineseology and Community Health
Location: Illini Union, Illini Room C

Helping Revitalize Medical Education through Service
A free clinic run by medical student volunteers offering health education and services including diabetes screening, education and management; cardiovascular disease, lipid screening, education and management; maternal wellness; and child wellness.
