The award recognizes exemplary partnerships between communities and academic institutions that are striving to achieve the systems and policy changes needed to overcome the root causes of health, social, environmental and economic inequalities. NEWS FROM THE NATIONAL COMMUNITY PARTNER FORUM
National Community Partner Forum Ends on a High Note!  Nearly 100 community leaders from across the U.S. convened Dec 5 – 7, 2011 in Boston for “Achieving the Promise of Community-Engaged Health Disparities Research: A National Community Partner Forum.” Co-sponsored by CCPH and the Center for Community Health Education, Research & Service with funding from the National Institute of Minority Health & Health Disparities, the forum focused on 4 priority areas for action:
1.        Community review of proposed research
2.        Governance structures for research
3.        Community engagement in all phases of the research process
4.        Funding community infrastructure needed to conduct research
The forum ended on a high note as attendees made recommendations, formed workgroups, deepened relationships and pledged to re-convene in Dec 2012 in Washington DC.  Visit the forum webpage at http://bit.ly/uCu3r5 to view the forum agenda, planning committee info, participant bios, photos and a slide show.  Forum proceedings and other products will be posted on the site as they become available. 
NEWS FROM CES4HEALTH
CES4Health is a free online mechanism for peer-reviewed publication and dissemination of diverse products of community-engaged scholarship.  In just two years, CES4Health has peer reviewed and published 34 products, including videos, policy reports, training curricula, digital stories and a cookbook!  Community and academic experts in the product's content area and format review each product.  Authors retain copyright of their work.  Visit http://CES4Health.info today to learn more, submit products and apply to be a reviewer!  Follow the latest CES4Health news at http://twitter.com/CES4Health

What's the Big Deal?  Reader's Theatre to Inform, Inspire, and Ignite Action is a script developed with and for Alaska Native and American Indian Community Health Workers and the people in their communities to provide colorectal cancer screening information, increase comfort with talking about screening, and encourage people to have recommended screenings.  Stories from survivors, their families and care givers, medical providers and community health workers are woven into the lives of six characters who use humor and story to talk about common questions, concerns, and feelings related to colorectal cancer screening.  The script was co-developed by Melany Cueva of the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium and Mark Dignan of the University of Kentucky.

CBPR Variable Matrix: Research for Improved Health in Academic/Community Partnerships provides items and scales from over 46 instruments representing 60% of the 40 domains in a previously published conceptual logic model of community-based participatory research (CBPR) processes and outcomes.  The matrix was developed by investigators from the Universities of New Mexico and Washington and the National Congress of American Indians Policy Research Center, in collaboration with a National Advisory Board of academic and community experts.  To access the product, visit http://bit.ly/sYoF50
