CATCH UP WITH CCPH THIS MONTH

Canadian Society for the Study of Higher Education in Victoria, BC! CES4Health Associate Editor Fay Fletcher is presenting the poster "CES4Health: Peer Review Knowledge Mobilization for Community Engaged Scholarship" on June 5 from 10 - 11:15 am. Community-Engaged Scholarship Twitter Chat on June 10 from 1 - 2 pm ET! The Canadian Community-Engaged Scholarship Partnership and University Affairs, a magazine published by the Association of Colleges and Universities of Canada, are co-sponsoring a twitter chat to coincide with an article appearing in the magazine. Be sure to follow twitter feeds @CESchat, @UA_magazine and @CESpartnership, and join the conversation using the hashtag #CESchat. CU Expo in Corner Brook, NL Canada! CCPH is supporting this Canadian-led international community-university partnerships conference in lieu of our own conference this year. Click here for details.      June 12 from 8:30 am – 2 pm: CCPH, CES4Health and the Canadian Community-Engaged Scholarship Partnership cosponsor the pre-conference workshop, “Advancing Community-Engaged Scholarship: Knowledge, Tools, Resources & Relationships.”
     June 12 from 2:30 – 4:30 pm: CCPH Educational Networking Meeting.
     June 13 from 10:30 – 12 pm: CES4Health editor Cathy Jordan and CES4Health reviewer Peter Levesque co-facilitate the workshop, “CES4Health: An Online Tool for the Peer Review and Dissemination of Innovative Products of Community-Engaged Scholarship from Around the World.”
     June 14 from 8:30 – 10 am: Keynote presentation by past CCPH board chair and community activist Susan Gust, followed by presentation of the CCPH annual award.
     June 14 from 10:30 – 12 pm: CCPH board member Suzanne Cashman and past CCPH board chairs Bobby Gottlieb and Susan Gust team up to co-teach “Learning from and with the Community: Attitudes, Skills and Competencies for Students and Faculty Engaged in Community-based Service Activities.”

Society for Community Research and Action Conference in Coral Gables, FL! CES4Health Fellow Marlynn May is co-presenting the workshop "Getting Your Work out There! Publishing & Disseminating the Full Range of Products of Community-Engaged Scholarship” on June 27 from 10:30am- 12:30pm. For more information, visit http://www.scra27.org/biennial/2013_biennial
NEWS FROM CCPH

Proposals due September 30 for CCPH Spring 2014 Conference in Chicago! CCPH’s 13th conference, “From Rhetoric to Reality: Achieving Authentic, Equitable & Transformative Partnerships” takes place April 30-May 3, 2014 in Chicago. The conference will draw hundreds of community members, faculty, staff, students, funders and policy makers from around the world for four days of skill-building, networking and agenda-setting! Session and poster proposals are due September 30 that advance the conference theme and align with one or more of these conference topics: Find details here.

Community Network for Research Equity & Impact (CNREI) Supports Community Organizations Engaged in Research! The CNREI is sponsoring a free monthly series of coaching conference calls for community partners who are considering or already engaged in research partnerships with academic partners. Ann-Gel Palermo, CCPH board member and Chair of the Harlem Community and Academic Partnership, is facilitating the calls on these Mondays from 4 - 5:30 pm ET: June 17, July 15 and Aug 26. Community Organizations Gather Next Spring for Peer Learning & Network Development! The CNREI emerged from National Community Partner Forums on Community-Engaged Research co-sponsored by CCPH and the Center for Community Health Education Research and Service. CNREI seeks to ensure that communities have a significant voice in decisions about research practice and policy, are true partners in research, and fully benefit from the knowledge gained through research. CNREI's first national conference will take place April 29 - 30, 2014 in Chicago, right before the CCPH conference. The CNREI conference will include session tracks for community partners who are new to research and those who are more experienced, as well as focused peer learning for Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) community partners and emerging and established community Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) and research review committees.

NEWS FROM CES4HEALTH

Just Published through CES4Health! Authored by a team from Alberta, “Interactive Focus Group Tools" is comprised of 3 tools for collecting input from community members participating in a community based participatory research project. The tools provide a visual, concrete structure to focus groups, ensuring participatory discussion can occur. Learn more.
CES4Health: A Tool for Enhancing Impact of Community-Engaged Scholarship! CES4Health Editor Cathy Jordan recently presented a webinar for the Healthier Wisconsin Partnership Program that describes how CES4Health is a tool for enhancing the impact of community-engaged scholarship. CES4Health is a free online mechanism for peer-reviewed publication and dissemination of diverse products of community-engaged scholarship, including videos, toolkits, policy reports, digital stories and more! Over 50 products have been published to date, each peer reviewed by community and academic experts!
