Title:
Research Associate
The
Center for Service and Learning (CSL) at Indiana University-Purdue University
Indianapolis (IUPUI) seeks applicants for a Research Associate, a full-time
academic appointment. The CSL is recognized as a national leader in both the
practice and research on civic engagement within higher education. The
CSL has received campus designation and funding as a “Signature Center” for its
excellence and national prominence in advancing research and scholarship.
The mission of the CSL Research Collaborative is to
conduct research, secure external funding, convene scholars, provide resources,
and disseminate information to further advance the knowledge of good practice
related to civic learning and engagement, campus mission, and the public
purposes of higher education. For further information about the mission and

The Research Associate will work under the supervision of the
Executive Director and will collaborate with other professional staff to
advance the strategic research goals of CSL Research Collaborative. The
Research Associate will (a) collaborate with CSL staff on research design and
implementation, (b) write grants to secure external funding for research, (c)
conduct and manage data analysis using a variety of tools, (d) edit Research
Briefs, manuscripts, and book chapters in the IUPUI Series on Service Learning
Research, (e) manage symposium to convene internal and external scholars,
(f) disseminate high quality scholarship through CSL website, publications, and
presentations, (g) supervise a Graduate Assistant, and (h) assist with
developing the capacity of IUPUI faculty to conduct research on service
learning and campus-community partnerships. This work will increase
knowledge and improve practice within the field of civic learning and
engagement in higher education.
Required
qualifications consist of a Master’s and three years of related research
experience. Disciplinary background may be from educational
psychology, higher education, policy studies, social psychology, or related
fields. The successful candidate will have (a) a solid understanding of
research methodologies and data analysis, including quantitative research
skills, (b) experience in grant writing and management, (c) strong writing and
editing skills, (d) effective project management and collaborative skills, and
(e) a commitment to the public purposes of higher education. Research
experience related to civic learning and engagement in higher education is
preferred however related experience within an organization focused on research
and scholarship is acceptable.
IUPUI

Review

filled. The starting date is on or before July 1, 2013. Salary is
commensurate to experience, beginning at $42,000 plus benefits. For
