The International Center for
Service-Learning in Teacher Education (ICSLTE) is pleased to announce that registration is now open for our June 21-23, 2012 Conference, Conversations
that Matter III: Research, Practice, and Policy. Join us for two and a
half days of exciting workshops, panels, and roundtables offered by
practitioners and scholars from around the world. Learn about their research,
teaching and outreach focused on teacher education and service-learning. The
conference will be held at Duke University
in Durham, North Carolina, USA. It is sponsored by the Duke Program in Education and Duke Service-Learning
Program.
We are especially pleased to
announce that our keynote speaker will be Marian Wright Edelman, founder and
president of the Children's Defense Fund (CDF). Mrs. Edelman has been an advocate for
disadvantaged Americans for her entire professional life. Under her leadership,
CDF has become the nation’s strongest voice for children and families. The
Children's Defense Fund’s Leave No
Child Behind® mission is to ensure
every child a Healthy Start, a Head
Start, a Fair Start,
a Safe Start, and a Moral
Start in life and successful passage
to adulthood with the help of caring families and communities. She has received
over a hundred honorary degrees and many awards including the Albert Schweitzer
