Faculty of Education
School of Counselling, Human
Services and Social Work
Lecturer – Community/Youth
Development
The Faculty of Education is looking
for someone who is committed to making a difference in the area of community
and/or youth development. You will need to have passion, enthusiasm and a
completed doctorate (or a nearly completed doctorate and publications) in an
area relevant to community and/or youth development.
The Faculty of Education at the
University of Auckland is undertaking a significant change programme to ensure
it builds on its position as New Zealand’s highest internationally ranked
Faculty of Education. As an important part of this process we are now seeking
to fill several new Lecturer and Senior Lecturer positions in a variety of
disciplinary areas and relevant practice communities. If you want to be
part of a Faculty of Education and Social Work that is world-class, dynamic,
and focussed on making a positive difference to people’s lives then we are
interested in hearing from you.
This is an exciting opportunity for
someone who shows the capacity and desire to develop a strong national and
international publication record. You will have a deep knowledge of, and
experience in, working with Pasifika or Maori communities and have strong connections
with community organisations delivering social services. Ideally you would
already be publishing in the field and would have a teaching focus in community
and-or youth development. You may already have experience teaching at both the
undergraduate and post-graduate level and have the ability to proactively
initiate opportunities for postgraduate supervision.
We are seeking someone who wants to
work in a collaborative team environment, not only within their school but
across the faculty, and who can demonstrate the potential to lead aspects of
teaching and research. You need to be willing to participate in service to the
school, faculty, profession and discipline and have the desire to contribute to
building a strong performance based culture in a faculty that aspires to lead
learning and change lives.
