The Midwest Ecological- Community Psychology conference is being organized by current and post-graduate students of National Louis University’s Community Psychology, Ph.D. program.
This
year’s conference focuses on nontraditional ways of examining theory, engaging
practice, evaluating outcomes, measuring Community Based Participatory Research
and integrating academic research beyond the classroom. Using the principles of
Community Psychology, we invite vigorous interdisciplinary dialogue that supports
the local to international efforts of the Society for Community Research and
Action (SCRA) and Psychologists for Social Responsibility (PsySR).
To
that end, this year’s theme is Empowered
Communities: Moving From Theory to Practice. Our aim is to
bring forth lively, solution-oriented discovery and debate that solidifies both
the nature of our studies and our work. Our calling challenges us to promote
social justice, diversity, and sense of community by analyzing and
incorporating existing historical knowledge with contemporary concepts.
