Many individuals want to learn more about service before
making a long-term commitment. Incorporating episodic volunteer and service
assignments allows programs to engage new populations of individuals, including
Veterans and people with disabilities, in service assignments. The
presentation, hosted by the National Service Inclusion Project (NSIP) will
include information on identifying who episodic volunteers are and how they can
take part in your organization. The session will also focus on developing a plan
to recruit episodic volunteers from new populations and integrating and
supporting episodic volunteers in your organization.
Here is an overview of the topics during the
presentation:
A. Overview of episodic volunteering, including what
these volunteers do, who they help, and why organizations should take them
seriously.
B. Review a process for building the infrastructure to
recruit and support episodic volunteers.
C. Case study discussion examples of implementing this
process and address potential opportunities and challenges for organizations
getting started with episodic participants.
D. Action planning.

strategies to "get your foot in the door" at a military organization,
