Call for Workshop Proposals February 21 - 24, 2013 | University of New Mexico The IMPACT Conference brings together college students, nonprofit professionals, campus administrators, and year of service members to share best practices, experiences, stories, and resources in their work for social change. We invite you to consider submitting a Workshop Proposal for the 2013 IMPACT National Conference. Workshop Categories See more detailed descriptions at the bottom of this email.
Submission Instructions
You can submit through the online form http://www.impactconference.org/workshops/call-for-workshop-proposals/ or by completing the workshop proposal form in MS Word and emailing to workshops@impactconference.org. We are conducting two rounds of workshop submission/review. Please submit your proposal(s) by the following date(s):

Friday, November 2, 2012 at 11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time.
Proposals will be evaluated and you will be notified of its status by November 12, 2012. FINAL SUBMISSION: Monday, December 10, 2012 at 11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time. Proposals will be evaluated and you will be notified of its status by December 17, 2012. Submit Suggestions for Workshops as well If you have an idea or two for workshops that you would like to see offered at the conference but not something that you would present yourself, please submit your ideas. IMPACT features over 90 workshops at all levels
(beginner, intermediate, advanced) surrounding these themes or categories:
Building and Enhancing Campus-based Community Service Programs: These workshops will focus on the sharing of best practices and models to create and sustain an infrastructure for community-based service programs, especially those that are student-led. Topics of particular interest include: program structure, recruitment, retention, training, service activity design, evaluation, reflection, funding and campus support. Administrators Track: These workshops are geared toward professionals in the field of civic engagement and will focus on hot topics within student community engagement. Participants will have the opportunity to network with other administrators to discuss issues and develop or refine their skills. Alternative Break Programs: (sponsored and managed by BreakAway) Best practices for organizing effective, meaningful, and transformative alternative break programs. AmeriCorps/National Service/Year of Service programs: For members and program staff of AmeriCorps or other national service/year of service programs. Ideas for improving the management, performance and impact of AmeriCorps programs. Issues and Advocacy: These workshops explore the issues to develop the awareness, knowledge, and skills necessary to effect social change; they can also include ways in which different campuses have taken action to address these issues. Topics of particular interest include: sustainability, political participation and action, economics, immigration, corporate and consumer responsibility, human trafficking and social entrepreneurship. Leadership and Professional Skills/Career Development: These workshops develop the skills needed for socially conscious careers in today’s economic and political times, including topics such as: assessment, grant and proposal writing, intercultural communications, advocacy, leadership, and networking. These workshops may also provide opportunities to explore differing paths into the social justice field, such as non-profit organizations, corporations, social entrepreneurs, grassroots organizations, and policy writing. Life after College/Recent Graduate: Gain information about graduate school programs, post-grad service programs, service opportunities for recent grads, things like “how to create a service program at your workplace or in your community” Service-Learning: Implementing or enhancing service that is incorporated into academic coursework. Spirituality/Faith and Service: For many people spirituality and faith are a cornerstone of their commitment to service and justice. Explore how to deepen, honor, and leverage the spiritual and faith-based roots of service. |
