Dear IJSLE Subscribers:
The editors of the International Journal for Service
Learning in Engineering: Humanitarian Engineering and Social Entrepreneurship
(IJSLE) are pleased to announce publication of its Spring 2012 issue. To view this issue of the Journal, please log on to www.ijsle.org.
In addition, IJSLE has published a new book
entitled ‘Convergence: Philosophies and Pedagogies for Developing the
Next Generation of Humanitarian Engineers and Social Entrepreneurs.’
You may view an electronic copy here. Hard copy editions are also
available upon request along with a self addressed stamped envelope. The
book was edited by IJSLE editor Dr. Thomas Colledge and contains chapter
contributions from a wide range of engineering educators. Support for the
book was provided by NCIIA.
The Journal welcomes manuscripts based on the original
work of students, faculty and researchers with a specific focus on projects,
programs, research and pedagogy that involve humanitarian engineering, social
entrepreneurship, and service learning in engineering.
A primary purpose of the Journal is to foster inquiry
into rigorous engineering design and research and direct those efforts toward
solving problems of marginalized communities. The examination of cultural
appropriateness is emphasized along with the application of appropriate
technologies and entrepreneurial application of sustainable solutions. Focus is
also placed on associated pedagogy and the dissemination of project results as
the Journal seeks to nurture service learning in engineering as a distinct body
of knowledge.
Sincerely,
Thomas Colledge, PhD, PE
