Description
Promote the development of students' leadership and civic
identity through coordination and implementation of student civic engagement
initiatives, programs, and services.
- Coordinate and promote the
Boiler Volunteer Network signature programs (i.e. Community Action Days,
Season of Sharing, Project Move Out, Boiler Blast, Issue Education
Initiatives, etc.).
- Create and implement tracking
and evaluation procedures for recording the impact of civic engagement on
students, faculty, staff, and the greater community.
- Conduct regular evaluations
and assessments of civic engagement efforts at the university.
- Advise community
engagement/service related student organizations, as well as graduate
administrative/professional staff for civic engagement.
- Develop and facilitate
workshops on the topics of meaningful community service, local, national
& global issues, active citizenship and volunteer opportunities.
- Cultivate and manage
university-community partnerships, faculty partnerships and alumni
networks that enrich civic leadership programs.
- Assist with facilitation of
community engagement and service-learning experiences for students,
faculty, and staff.
- Train and oversee student
assistants, student leaders, and volunteers.
- Serve as a liaison between
the university and community partners.
- Maintain and distribute
weekly newsletter of volunteer opportunities and resources for the campus
community.
- Collaborate with Coordinator
of Leadership Development to plan and execute annual Leadership &
Social Change Overnight Student Retreat.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in
Counseling, Education, Higher Education Administration, or related field.
- Two or more years experience
in student activities, student involvement and student organizations.
- Knowledge of community
service initiatives in a college town environment.
- Superior communication (oral
and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability and competency to
influence and build relationships among a diverse cultural university
community and to relate to people of all ages.
- Ability to collaborate with
others and advise students on University rules and regulations.
- Excellent counseling and
mediation skills with the ability to identify problems, analyze the
situation, and implement solutions while maintaining confidentiality.
- Strong organizational and
time management skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Motivated individual with
ability to efficiently multi task, work under pressure, handle
interruptions and meet deadlines.
- Capable of working
independently and in a team environment.
- Proficiency in software:
Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook / Electronic email.
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree.
- Relevant work experience in
higher education administration.
- Knowledge of Purdue
University academic areas, registration policies, campus locations and
information sources.

- FLSA: Exempt (Not Eligible
For Overtime).
