Program Advisor in the Office of Student Engagement and
Experiential Learning
Northern
Illinois University is inviting applications for the Program Advisor in the
Office of Student Engagement and Experiential Learning. The Office of Student
Engagement and Experiential Learning’s Program Advisor will direct the
development, enhancement, and expansion of other academic enrichment
programming and high-impact practices (HIP) throughout the campus community.
This position will oversee the promotion, collection, dissemination and
reporting of students involved in HIPs across the university. The Program
Advisor will collaborate with other campus units to enhance and scale up
mentoring and student engagement opportunities. A key function of this position
will be to support information sharing across campus units engaged in
assessment tools and reports associated with HIP tracking. This position will
coordinate efforts among Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Alumni Association,
Registration & Records, and Enrollment Management.
- Manage all operational and administrative processes of
the database and promote the collection, dissemination and reporting of
students involved in curricular and co-curricular high impact practices
across the university. Support information sharing across campus units
engaged in high-impact practices.
- Manage all administrative processes and communication
with students and faculty mentors for university-wide mentoring and
internship initiatives. Work with other campus units to recruit, screen,
orient, enroll, and prepare students to participate in the university-wide
internship/ mentoring initiatives. Organize meetings, speakers, activities
for both initiatives.
- Drive development of project aims and ensure they are
strategic, collaborative, and cohesive with shared vision. Synthesize
large quantities of data and information to create succinct communications
to influence decision-making and promotion of engaged learning and HIP
across university. Contributes articles and submissions on curricular
engagement activities to both internal and external constituencies.
- Act as a liaison for HIPS and engaged learning and
coordinate appropriate communication channels for continuous feedback from
campus partners. Lend project management skills to other departments, projects
and initiatives, including mentoring and developing other's skill-sets.
Maintain contact lists for project participants and synthesize, document,
and communicate lessons learned with team members.
- Develop and maintain schedules to ensure timely completion
of project tasks and review deliverable and project documents to ensure
they are complete, coherent, current, stored, and disseminated
appropriately.
- Uphold and reinforce a culture of adaptability,
flexibility, and acceptance of change in the means and methods used to
achieve project goals.
- Represent the Office of Student Engagement and
Experiential Learning at meeting and events.
- Oversee graduate students, student workers and volunteers.
