We are the national institute on domestic violence focusing on Latin@ communities.  As a leading, national Latin@ organization, Casa de Esperanza puts community at the center of everything we do.  Founded in 1982 to provide emergency shelter for Latinas and other women and children experiencing domestic violence, today, we continue providing critical and innovative services and support in our Minnesota Twin Cities communities, ranging from family advocacy and shelter services to leadership development and community engagement opportunities for Latin@ youth, women and men, to informing the work of the National Latin@ Network to shape public policy, research, and best practices in the field. The National Latin@ Network provides training and consultations to practitioners and activists throughout the US, as well as in Latin America. We organize national and regional events. We engage in federal and state public policy advocacy and conduct research on issues that affect Latin@s in the US and abroad.

Call for Papers: Journal for Social Action in Counseling and Psychology

We would like to invite you submit manuscripts for possible publication in the Journal for Social Action in Counseling and Psychology (JSACP). This open access Journal promotes deep reflection on community change and system transformation in which counselors, psychologists, and other human service professionals play a role. JSACP aims to highlight ‘engaged scholarship’ and the very important social change work done by professionals and activists that would not normally find its way into publication. The journal attempts to break down the divide between theory and practice in one of the most critical areas of our work: social transformation toward social and ecological justice and peace.

The journal features four unique sections:

1. Activism and Advocacy

2. Education and Training

3. Policy and Theory

4. Program Development and Evaluation

Articles submitted to JSACP are subjected to a blind review. We currently accept articles in English and Spanish. Assistant Director, Student Organizations & Leadership Development - Center for Social Justice Research, Teaching and Service

Georgetown's Center for Social Justice Research, Teaching and Service (CSJ) opened its doors in January 2001. The Center has a mission that is simple to state but far-reaching in its implications: In order to advance justice and the common good, CSJ promotes and integrates community-based research, teaching and service by collaborating with diverse partners and communities.

The Assistant Director, Student Organizations and Leadership Development, serves four important functions for CSJ:

• Connects Georgetown students to service and social justice opportunities through student organizations and oversees the work and leadership development of CSJ's Advisory Board for Student Organizations (ABSO) and student organization leaders.
• Coordinates campus-wide social justice one-time events that integrate social justice work across CSJ's programs, student organizations, research, and curricular work - engaging, coordinating, and advising student leaders and coordinators in the event management and planning, including: CSJ's Fall Leadership Retreat, Days of Service programming, Fall Fest, and Spring Fling.
• Manages CSJ's advising of student organizations and leadership development of organization leaders, and builds staff members' capacity to effectively oversee and advise student organizations through leadership development and direct advising of ABSO members and officers and creating the advising strategy and infrastructure for CSJ advisors and content advisors.
• Coordinates and supports special projects as directed by the Executive Director and other CSJ events, including CSJ's Open House, Options Fair, Careers for the Common Good, CSJ Celebration, and Social Justice Send-Off, in partnership with GU partners; participates in CSJ activities and acts as a representative of CSJ in university-wide activities, such as cross-departmental committees, position searches and student organization activities; and assists in building and strengthening ties with other departments within the University.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree
• At least 3 years of experience in higher education student affairs, student development, student leadership development, special events planning, training, education, social service, volunteer management and/or community organizing.- experience working with and advising college students, volunteers and diverse communities a plus.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Availability and willingness to work some weekends and evenings
• Valid driver's license
